PATACSIL Family Tree |
Origin |
The PATACSILs dwelt in a valley five kilometers from the center of Bauang town to the west and four kilometers from the center of Naguilian town to the east, in the Province of La Union, Republic of the Philippines. This valley is part of Bauang, and is traversed by the Bauang river separating the barrios of Ballay east of the river and Cabalayangan west of it. The PATACSILs farmed their lands along the river, on the flat lands and on the slopes of the mountain sides, and fished in the river and its tributaries.
As the families grew, the PATACSILs spread out into the surrounding areas: into Bungalo, Cabaritan, Suguidan, Binissang, Acao; then into different towns to the northern Ilocos, eastward to Baguio, south Pangasinan, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Manila and all points except west because that would be the China sea. It has been known that some have gone as far as Mindanao.
Finally some of them reached the United States: California, Illinois, Indiana, New Jersey, Florida, New York, Texas, Alaska, Hawaii, Etc….. And perhaps, even unknown to this writer, the descendents of PATACSILs may be found in Europe, South America, Canada and elsewhere in the world. For many of them had served in and retired from US Navy, US Army and the US Civil Services.
The earliest document found where the PATACSIL was recorded were those of the year 1740. Records were found containing the names MARIANO and his twin younger brothers EPIFANIO and SANTOS.
This is the story of the progeny of these three brothers.
Did these three have any other brothers? As in-depth study and research was made by my sister Constancia. She pursued this task for 30 years (1936 to 1966). She made exhaustive visits to the archives and records of the Municipalities of Bauang and Naguilian, province of La Union, Philippines. She dug deep into the Baptismal records in the Churches of these places, as well as those of the neighboring towns and even as far as places including Pangasinan and Tarlac.
Then she talked at Great lengths with the several OLD PATACSILs then living.
